Mercy: The Gift We Don’t Deserve

Scripture:
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”
— Psalm 103:8, 10 (NIV)

Message:
Mercy is an incredible gift from God, one that we truly don’t deserve. Despite our shortcomings, failures, and sins, God’s mercy reaches out to us with forgiveness and compassion. Mercy is God’s way of withholding the punishment we deserve and instead offering us His love and grace. It is an act of divine kindness that cannot be earned, only received.

In our moments of failure, when we feel most unworthy, God’s mercy speaks louder than our mistakes. His mercy sees beyond our sin to the potential for transformation. It is because of His mercy that we can approach Him without fear, knowing that He will not cast us aside, but rather restore us and give us a fresh start.

This undeserved mercy should inspire us to live lives of gratitude and humility. Just as we have received mercy, we are called to extend it to others. When we forgive those who wrong us and show compassion to those in need, we reflect the heart of God. Mercy doesn’t keep score or demand repayment; it flows freely from a heart transformed by God’s love.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of mercy that I don’t deserve. Thank You for not treating me according to my sins but for showing me Your love and compassion. Help me to extend the same mercy to others, forgiving and loving them just as You have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
