THE BLESSING THAT OUTLIVES ME
Scripture Reading
“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.”
— Proverbs 13:22 (KJV)
Message
God’s blessing is not meant to end with one generation. A life that is surrendered to God can leave behind something that continues to bless people long after that person is gone.
When we think about inheritance, we often think only about money or property. But a lasting inheritance can also be faith, wisdom, character, knowledge, values, relationships, opportunities, and a godly example.
Abraham’s relationship with God affected generations after him. David’s devotion to God became part of the spiritual heritage of Israel. Timothy’s faith was influenced by the sincere faith of his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Their investment in him became part of his preparation for ministry.
This reminds us that what we build today can influence tomorrow.
The financial resources you accumulate can help the next generation. The skills you teach can equip someone to succeed. The wisdom you share can prevent another person from repeating your mistakes. The values you demonstrate can shape children and communities.
Therefore, don’t build only for today.
Learn to think beyond immediate gratification. Save wisely. Build valuable skills. Create sustainable work. Teach financial responsibility. Invest in people. Strengthen your relationship with God. Make decisions that your future generations can benefit from.
But remember: the greatest inheritance you can leave is not wealth without wisdom. Money can be spent, but godly character can shape generations.
Ask yourself:
“What will remain because I lived?”
May your life produce fruit that continues beyond your lifetime. May the work of your hands become a blessing to those who come after you, and may your greatest legacy be a life that faithfully honored God.
Confession
My life will produce a lasting legacy.
I build with wisdom, integrity, diligence, and purpose.
I am becoming a blessing to those who come after me.
I will pass on wisdom, faith, values, opportunities, and resources responsibly.
What God has entrusted to me will not end with me; it will become a blessing to future generations.
My life will leave behind a testimony that glorifies God. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Prayer
Father, help me to live beyond myself. Give me wisdom to build something that will bless generations after me. Teach me to manage resources faithfully, develop valuable skills, invest in people, and pass on godly values. Let my work, faith, wisdom, and generosity become part of a legacy that continues to produce good fruit. May those who come after me know that my life was devoted to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
