THE OVERFLOW HAS BEGUN
SCRIPTURE: PSALM 23:5 (KJV)
“Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”
Overflow does not always begin with something dramatic.
Sometimes it begins quietly.
A small opportunity.
An unexpected connection.
A new idea.
A little increase.
A door opening.
A burden lifting.
A fresh measure of peace.
A renewed strength to continue.
We often expect abundance to arrive as something so obvious that there can be no doubt. But sometimes God begins with a seed before He produces a harvest.
The important thing is learning to recognize the beginning.
David said, “my cup runneth over.”
He was not speaking from a place where there were no battles. He had experienced rejection, danger, uncertainty, and difficult seasons. Yet he could still testify that God’s goodness was overflowing in his life.
This teaches us that overflow is not simply the absence of problems.
Overflow is the presence of God’s grace in the midst of life.
You can have peace in a difficult season.
You can have provision while still building.
You can have joy while waiting for greater things.
You can have strength when circumstances are demanding.
You can have favor even when the road is unfamiliar.
That is overflow.
Sometimes, the first evidence of abundance is not what God puts in your hands but what He puts in your heart.
Peace.
Wisdom.
Courage.
Faith.
Clarity.
Contentment.
Strength.
Then, as you faithfully steward those things, other dimensions of fruitfulness can follow.
Jesus said in Luke 16:10:
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”
Never despise the beginning of your overflow.
If God gives you one opportunity, handle it well.
If He gives you one client, serve excellently.
If He gives you one idea, develop it.
If He gives you a little increase, steward it wisely.
If He gives you a platform, use it responsibly.
If He gives you influence, remain humble.
If He gives you peace, protect it.
Small beginnings can become significant testimonies when they are handled with faithfulness.
The widow in 2 Kings 4 did not begin with overflowing vessels. She began with a little oil.
The five loaves and two fishes did not look like abundance. But when placed in Jesus’ hands, they became enough to feed a multitude.
Your beginning may not look impressive.
That does not mean God is not at work.
Zechariah 4:10 says:
“For who hath despised the day of small things?”
Perhaps you have been praying for a major breakthrough, but God is already showing you the first signs of His faithfulness.
Don’t overlook them.
Give thanks.
Pay attention.
Prepare.
Build.
Learn.
Steward.
And keep trusting.
Overflow is not permission for waste.
Overflow requires capacity.
If God is increasing you, allow Him to increase your wisdom too.
If He is expanding your opportunities, expand your discipline.
If He is enlarging your influence, enlarge your character.
If He is putting more in your hands, learn how to manage more.
The overflow has begun.
Not because everything is perfect, but because God’s grace is already producing evidence.
What begins as a trickle can become a stream.
What begins as a seed can become a harvest.
What begins as an opportunity can become a testimony.
What begins as a prayer can become an answer.
So don’t despise today because you are waiting for tomorrow.
Look again.
There may already be evidence.
There may already be movement.
There may already be grace.
There may already be an open door.
There may already be something in your hands that God intends to multiply.
The overflow has begun.
Receive it with gratitude.
Steward it with wisdom.
And give God the glory.
CONFESSION
My cup is overflowing with God’s grace and goodness. I recognize and appreciate the small beginnings of His work in my life. I will not despise little opportunities or small increases. I will steward everything God places in my hands with wisdom, diligence, humility, and gratitude. My capacity is increasing, my work is becoming fruitful, and I am growing into all that God has prepared for me. Amen.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for every evidence of Your goodness in my life.
Open my eyes to recognize the beginnings of what You are doing. Help me not to overlook small opportunities, small victories, small provisions, or small steps of progress.
Give me wisdom to steward every increase. Make me faithful in little and trustworthy with much.
Increase my capacity before You increase my responsibilities. Give me discipline to manage resources, humility to receive correction, and wisdom to make decisions that honor You.
Let every seed You have placed in my hands become fruitful according to Your purpose. Let the overflow grow into a testimony that will bless others and glorify Your name.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
