DAILY GRACE DEVOTIONAL BY EVANG UBONG IFIOK

RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE
Scripture Reading
“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”
— Revelation 2:4 (KJV)
Message
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is becoming familiar with spiritual things while gradually losing the passion and affection we once had for God. The church in Ephesus was commended for many good works, yet the Lord pointed out a serious issue—they had left their first love.
Your first love represents that sincere devotion, excitement, and hunger you had when you first encountered God’s grace. It is a place where fellowship with God is treasured above everything else, and pleasing Him becomes your greatest desire.
Over time, life’s responsibilities, disappointments, distractions, and routine can weaken spiritual passion. You may still attend church, pray occasionally, and perform Christian duties, yet your heart may not burn for God as it once did.
The good news is that God lovingly calls His people back. Revival begins when we recognize our need for Him and intentionally return to the place of intimacy. He is not looking for mere religious activity; He desires a genuine relationship with you.
Take time to examine your heart today. Have you drifted from your passion for prayer, worship, and God’s Word? If so, God is extending an invitation to return. His arms are open, and His love remains unchanged.
The fire can burn again. The joy can return. The passion can be restored. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you.
Confession
My heart belongs fully to God.
I love Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
My passion for His presence is renewed daily.
I walk in intimacy, devotion, and fellowship with the Lord, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
