RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE

Scripture Reading

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”
Revelation 2:4 (KJV)

Message

The Christian life is not merely about serving God; it is first and foremost about loving Him. Jesus desires a relationship with us that is marked by genuine affection, devotion, and intimacy. Yet, over time, distractions, routines, challenges, and worldly concerns can cause our hearts to drift from the passion we once had for Him.

The church in Ephesus was commended for its labor, patience, and perseverance, but the Lord pointed out one serious issue—they had left their first love. They were still active in ministry, yet their affection for Christ had diminished. This reminds us that God values the condition of our hearts as much as our actions.

Returning to your first love begins with remembering where your passion for God once burned brightly. Recall the joy of your salvation, the excitement of prayer, the hunger for God’s Word, and the delight of spending time in His presence. Then make a deliberate decision to draw close to Him again.

God’s love for you has never changed. His arms remain open, and He lovingly invites you back into deeper fellowship with Him. As you seek Him sincerely, He will renew your heart, restore your passion, and rekindle the fire of your devotion.

Today, examine your heart. Have other things taken God’s place in your priorities? Have you become spiritually comfortable or distracted? If so, hear the loving call of the Father: return to your first love.

A revived heart begins with renewed love for Christ.
